Terms of Service

These terms ("Terms") cover your use of Qapital Quiz, a geography learning app operated by Daniel Tollefsen ("we", "us") and available at qapitalquiz.trollefsen.com and through the Qapital Quiz Android and iOS apps (collectively, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. By signing in you confirm that you meet this age requirement. If you are under the age of majority in your country, you additionally confirm that a parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.

2. Your account

• You sign in using a Google account; you are responsible for keeping that account secure.
• You can pick a display name and a username. You must not impersonate another person, use someone else's name, or pick names that are abusive, deceptive, or contain illegal content.
• One person, one account. Don't share your account.
• You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete account.

3. What you can use the Service for

The Service is for personal, non-commercial learning. You can practice quizzes, build hit lists of items you want to drill, see your stats, and share your progress with friends once we ship leaderboards.

4. What you may not do

• Use the Service to harass, abuse, threaten, or impersonate anyone.
• Scrape, crawl, mirror, or systematically download content from the Service.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer the app, decompile the binaries, or extract source.
• Interfere with the Service — including but not limited to denial-of-service attacks, exploiting bugs to harm others, or abusing rate limits.
• Use the Service in violation of any law that applies to you.
• Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit any part of the Service without our written permission.

5. Your content

The display name, username, and the lists you create ("Your Content") remain yours. You grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to host, store, and display Your Content for the sole purpose of operating the Service — for example, showing your username on a leaderboard you opted into. This licence ends when you delete the relevant content or your account.

You confirm that Your Content does not infringe anyone else's rights and complies with these Terms.

6. Our content

Everything else — the app itself, the quiz questions, the geographic data set, the branding, the design, the code — is owned by us or our licensors. You may use it solely through the Service in line with these Terms.

The geographic data set is a static, point-in-time snapshot and may contain errors or become outdated. If you spot a factual error, please let us know — but corrections are at our discretion.

7. Availability and changes to the Service

• The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We don't guarantee uptime.
• We may add, modify, or remove features at any time. We try to give notice when changes affect existing functionality.
• The Service depends on third-party providers (Google for sign-in, Supabase for the database, Cloudflare for hosting). Outages on their side may affect availability.

8. Suspension and termination

We can suspend or terminate your account if you break these Terms or if we're legally required to. Where the violation is fixable, we'll usually warn you first. You can terminate at any time by deleting your account from inside the app.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

To the maximum extent allowed by law, the Service is provided without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied — including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the quiz content is accurate.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, we (and our suppliers and contractors) are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim arising from or related to the Service is limited to €50 (fifty euros).

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under mandatory consumer protection law in your country.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any third-party claim that arises from your violation of these Terms or your misuse of the Service. This clause does not apply where prohibited by law (for example, against EU consumers).

12. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of Norway, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved by the ordinary Norwegian courts, with Oslo District Court as the agreed venue. Nothing in this clause limits your rights as a consumer to bring a dispute in your country of residence under applicable mandatory law.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make a material change, we will notify you in the app and update the "Effective" date above. If you keep using the Service after the update, you accept the revised Terms. If you don't agree, you can delete your account.
